Star of Coronation Street Sydney Martin expressed her reaction to a newcomer in Weatherfield and stated she “smells trouble.” The actor, who debuted in the summer as Betsy, the daughter of DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap opera, has already left her mark on the cobbles.

Mason Radcliffe, who portrays Luca Toolan on the popular street, is another individual who has had a significant influence in the last 12 months.

The aggressive kid was only spotted again on the cobblestones during the summer after his initial release, as Corrie viewers have witnessed in recent months, after he was accused of having a knife.

Viewers were devastated as they watched Liam Connor become the victim of the cruel Weatherfield High bully and his group of mates – including Liam’s friend Dylan Wilson. It was during one of his horrific bullying sessions that Mason pulled a knife on the terrified teen.

After his initial release, Mason returned to Weatherfield following his release and was quickly taken under the wing of Stu Carpenter, despite opposition from Sean Tully, Maira and Gary Windass.

His return also saw him grow closer to Betsy Swain, the daughter of DS Lisa Swain, but the troublemaker soon turned on the bad boy and landed him back inside after stealing a phone from a customer’s bag at Speed Daal and planting it on him so he got into trouble.

However, in last week’s Corrie, Mason was seen back on the cobbles after Liam admitted that it was Betsy who was responsible for the theft at Speed Daal.

Betsy wasn’t happy with Dylan and just as a nervous Liam arrived to find out Mason was being released, the man himself appeared. A text was quickly sent to Gary who was in the pub with Maria. The pair, as well as Sean, went rushing over to Victoria Gardens where Gary quickly pinned Mason against the gate and threatened him.

Stu Carpenter just happened to be walking past at the time and intervened. Back at Speed Daal, Stu agreed that Mason could have his job back and apologised to the teen for not believing his innocence from the start.

Previous scenes in Corrie have seen Stu taken aback to find Mason already at work, who explained he spent the night in the restaurant to avoid another beating from his brothers. Having been in a similar situation.

Spoilers for next week have revealed that as Mason sets off to his college course, Stu and Yasmeen wish him the best of luck. In the precinct, Mason and Betsy compare the terrible day they’ve each had.

Later, Eileen Grimshaw makes it clear to a stunned Stu and Yasmeen Nazir that she doesn’t agree with them giving Mason a chance. When Stu trips over Mason’s bag a hoodie falls out. Mason is quick to scoop it up and stuff it back in his bag. Eileen then gives Yasmeen food for thought when she urges her not to let Stu bully her into having Mason around.

It is also revealed that Mason’s brother, Logan Radcliffe, will soon arrive in Weatherfield after Mason previously told Stu the reason for his bloodied and bruised appearance was because of his sibling. The spoilers say then when Mason spots Logan, watching him from his car. Stu quickly marches over to confront him but he speeds off.

Confirming he’ll be playing Logan, Harry Lowbridge took to Instagram with a first look at his opening scene and said: “I WILL BE JOINING THE CAST OF CORONATION STREET AS, ‘Logan Radcliffe!’ Super grateful for this opportunity. Let’s see what he has in store for little bro Mason.”

Sydney then reshared the exciting casting news on her Instagram Story with the message: “Mason’s older brother is arriving. I smell trouble.”

Harry was also welcomed by other members of Corrie’s cast, including Luca who said: “Welcome brother.” Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson, commented underneath his post: “Another Radcliffe. Congratulations Harry Lowbridge.” Aadi Alahan actor Adam Hussain also shared: “Welcome to the street.” Waterloo Road actress Hattie Dynevor, who is the daughter of Corrie legend Sally Dynevor, added: “Yay congratulations!!!”
