Viewers of BBC Breakfast have expressed dissatisfaction with the network after a number of guests appeared on the program to discuss their most recent novels.

Fans of BBC Breakfast are inconsolable as they call for the broadcaster to feature “actual news.”

It follows a series of guests who chatted with hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay about their new books on the show on Wednesday.

The three-hour program covered the most recent events and touched on issues like the first official place for illegal drug consumption, vaping in classrooms, and the rising expense of living.

However, it appeared as though viewers weren’t pleased when primary guests Ross Kemp, Dan Snow, and Kate Humble gave readers a sneak peek into their next books.

Many complained that the program was becoming a platform for celebrities to advertise their books and urged that more news be featured.

@arrow_sorel posted the following on Twitter: “Seems to be every morning lately. In the run-up to Christmas, people are trying to promote their books.

“Is #BBCBreakfast just hosting celebs with books out for Christmas?” tweeted @BrianPaget.

It was tweeted by @ScullyScully73: “This another funking book??? @BBCBreakfast becoming a Waterstone’s store? #BBCBreakfast”

Is it a news channel or advertisements for new books? @yicker questioned.

@wetpaint screamed, “Please, let there be some real news on this show!”

The book promotion, though, seemed to please @kaytydaty, who tweeted: “Loving the interview on @BBCBreakfast, a hundred facts tossed in, wonderful. Both children and adults will find this book to be quite interesting and strange because it is so unpredictable. Lincoln Cathedral and the Great Pyramid: related? Mad. I’m glad I looked.

“Great interview – already preordered the book sounds fascinating,” tweeted @KatyVBlunt.

Ross Kemp, a former EastEnders actor, discussed his book Take Nothing For Granted: Tales from an Unexpected Life, in which he divulges details about his upbringing, professional life, and personal life.

“I believe most people wrap things, don’t we? ” he replied. We are quite distinct persons throughout our entire lives, both from ourselves and from others.

“As I swiftly approach 60, I figured it was about time to take off the wrappers. Looking back at the various mes over the years was quite beneficial for me.

“From growing up in Essex, to going to drama school, to getting my grant, to getting into drama school, to leaving drama school, to getting my equity card, and then finding my way into making documentaries.”

But it wasn’t long before Sally pointed out that because he spent ten years playing Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, he missed out on a significant portion of his life.
