Ciaran Griffiths, best known for playing Coronation Street bad boy Damon Hay for two years, has tied the knot with his partner just weeks after his ITV soap exit scenes

Only a few weeks after departing the ITV serial opera Coronation Street, an actor tied the knot.

Ciaran Griffiths, 41, moved to Australia to live with his new wife and their son, then after that, he married his girlfriend. Ciaran is seen in a social media photo from the wedding day sporting a blue jacket with a white shirt and navy pants.

His significant other dazzled in a lace dress while posing for an exquisite boat photo with the famous Sydney Opera House in the backdrop. In 2019, they got together while traveling Australia for a theatrical show.

The soap star briefly moved back to the UK to reprise his role as Weatherfield bad boy Damon Hay in January this year. Speaking about his temporary move back to Manchester, he said at the time: ‘It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now, he understands a bit more so I don’t feel as guilty leaving him, even though I’m doing it for them anyway. But the weather’s terrible, I’m never ill in Australia, yet I get here and straight away I’ve got a cold!’

Ciaran’s two-year stint as Damon ended in a “natural end” for the show. “Ciaran’s loved his time on the show, but Damon’s story came to a natural end for now,” a source said at the time to The Sun. It’s time to bid him farewell for the time being, but the door is left open.” Damon was coerced into an armed robbery in the closing scenes by his brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

He had the option to turn on Harvey and be freed to live his life with girlfriend Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) but he knew they would never be safe. So he decided to plead guilty and accept years in prison with Harvey instead. The brothers had a brutal fight and then reunited with plans to relaunch their criminal empire from behind bars. During Friday’s (March 29) episode, Damon called Sarah to prison to break up with her.

As Sarah told him how she planned to wait for him and that they could have a future together, Damon dropped bombshell on his lover. He said: “I don’t want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face, we’re finished. I’m doing you a massive favour. You turned my world upside down but if I loved you, properly loved you, I wouldn’t have done the stuff I’ve done. “You’ve got to walk away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye Sarah.” With that he got up and walked away from her leaving her devastated.
