The Coronation Street episode airing this Friday, May 24, features Simon telling Carla that his father has extended an offer for him to work on the yacht.

He then shows Carla a few pictures, one of which shows Peter embracing another woman.

Will Peter, though, ever make it back to the cobbles, as he is mentioned? What is known about a possible resurgence is as follows:

Coronation Street: Carla misses Peter

Corrie viewers will be aware that on Boxing Day in 2023, Peter and Carla made the decision to part ways.

Peter made the decision to follow his dreams and set out to travel the world on a yacht with his friend.

Carla bid Peter farewell with a kiss rather than shackling him. Then, as he was pulling the tram out of Weatherfield, she turned her back on him.

Five months after they split up, Simon now says he’s been offered a job to work alongside his dad on the yacht.

Simon shows Sarah a picture of Peter after Carla tells him that she misses him. When she notices him putting his arm around another woman, she is horrified.

Will Peter ever come back to the cobbles?

The fact that the soap opera chose not to kill off Peter implies that, should one ever happen, the door is wide open for a return.

Actor Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow, said to BBC News when he first left the cobbles, “Of course I haven’t ruled [a return] out, it’s been such a part of my life.”

“I’ve spent so much time there growing up, but I need to take a break and look for something different to do because I’m not getting any younger.”

After leaving Corrie, the actor went on to star in pantomimes, but a return to the soap opera is still a possibility.

According to the Corrie storylines that are currently airing, it appears that Carla and DS Swain may become friends. Is Carla prepared to let go of Peter, though? Could Peter ever make a comeback to the soap opera in the future?
