Corrie barmaid set for shock 'sex work' storyline after 'rough 12 months' on cobbles

Corrie is no stranger to airing a taboo and complex storyline – and now with sex worker Nicky back on the soap, it appears a resident could be set to take a leaf out of her book

On the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, a stunning new career turnabout may be in store for the beauty.

Charlotte Jordan’s character Daisy Midgeley first appeared on the cobbles in 2020. Furthermore, it’s safe to assume that she has been a part of many exciting plots.

She was the victim of a horrific acid attack last year at the hands of stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still). When Justin tried to throw acid at Daisy when she was alone in the Rovers Return, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) intervened to save her.

And the drama hasn’t stopped there. Earlier this year, she ended up cheating on her fiancé Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) with Ryan. And in typical soap fashion, their affair was exposed leaving Daniel heartbroken and Daisy, single.

Despite rekindling things with Ryan, things have gone from bad to worse for Daisy. Fans will recall how at Christmas, she stole money from serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in a bid to buy the pub back.

Stephen had bagged the money, before he was killed, from Underworld – this meant it technically belonged to owner Carla. At first, Daisy and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) kept their mouths shut about the truth.

However, Carla found out everything and last week, she exposed Jenny and Daisy’s fraud, determined to get her money back. But instead of reporting them to the cops, she declared herself as the new Rovers Return owner, before sacking Daisy – leaving her devastated.

Now, it’s been claimed that Daisy could be set for a huge new storyline involving sex work. The potential new plot would coincide with sex worker Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) returning this week.

Nicky was introduced back in 2020 – where she became a love interest for Daniel, before leaving in 2022. This week though, the character makes her return amid the Lauren Bolton storyline.

And AI reckons Daisy could be taking a leaf out of Nicky’s book, following a rough past 12 months on the cobbles. Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Gemini, to see if Daisy could turn to sex work on the soap.

The program responded with a list of reasons as to why the “complex” storyline would be likely. It explained how ”exploring complexities” might play into it.

The program said: “Sex work is a complex issue, and a well-written storyline could explore the reasons someone might choose it, the challenges they face, and the stigma surrounding it.”

Another reason might be ”character development.” The AI system explained: “It could force Daisy to confront her own morals and values, and show how she navigates a difficult situation.” Gemini also pointed out the ”connection to Nicky.” It said: “It could provide a deeper connection between Daisy and Nicky, with Nicky offering guidance or support.”
