After Craig Reed sexually assaulted her, Lydia Dingle of Emmerdale has been in anguish for weeks. She has been too afraid to report the assault or notify her loved ones.

On Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick) mustered the guts to confront her rapist.

She has been battling in quiet ever since Craig Reed (Ben Addis) sexually assaulted her recently when they were at work.

Lydia’s husband Sam Dingle (James Hooton) has noticed she hasn’t been herself lately, but she hasn’t told him about the sexual assault since she’s been too afraid.

When she led them to a wooded area far from her home, she even lit fire to the clothes she was violated in.

Craig has been acting as if nothing occurred when he runs into Lydia at work, and she has not reported the incident to the police.

On the most recent soap opera episode, Lydia confronted her rapist before the credits rolled.

She told Craig that he had sexually assaulted her, and he was at a loss for words.

Fans of Emmerdale flocked to Twitter to applaud Lydia for confronting her assailant, with some believing his demise is imminent.

Go Lydia tables turned now Craig #Emmerdale, Dave wrote in a message to his fans.

Mike commented, “Well done Lydia for calling Craig out for being a rapist. Lydia, go to the police anyway; don’t back out! #Emmerdale.”

In subsequent scenes, will she tell her husband the truth and call the police to report the incident?

“Well done Lydia for finally standing up to Craig and telling him what he is,” said another user. “@karenblick – outstanding.”

Reece tweeted, “Writers, listen to the fans #Emmerdale kill Craig.”

Craig, a user, commented: “Brave parts involving Lydia. Hugs for #emmerdale.

Will Sam kill Craig after learning the truth, or will Craig wind up in prison?
