A former Home and Away star has been told he must enter pleas to a series of alleged crimes, and he will seek bail in the new year at a court hearing.

Felix Dean, who starred as “VJ” on the Channel 7 show from 2007 to 2014, has yet to enter a plea in connection with the alleged assault of a Surry Hills tobacconist in October and two other violent events.

Dean, who is being held on remand, was absent from Central Local Court on Wednesday when the case was heard by Magistrate Margaret Quinn.

Elliott Rowe, the 24-year-lawyer, old’s told the court that he would file a bail application on his client’s behalf in January.

“Please have not been entered yet but I will be making a bail application on January 12,” Mr Rowe said.

Dean was charged with many violent offenses in Newtown, Paddington, and Surry Hills, according to the court, and Mr Rowe only recently took up the case from a Legal Aid lawyer.

Magistrate Quinn said the former actor must enter pleas to all charges in January.

“One of these has been around since September, I don’t like it,” she said.

“I don’t like it at all.”

Dean is accused of assaulting a police officer in the course of his duties in Paddington on September 18 this year, while allegedly failing to follow Covid-19 instructions.

Dean, who has homes in Redfern and Erskineville, is also accused of smashing a man’s house glass in Newtown on January 6 this year and attacking another guy who was attempting to rob him on the same night, both of which he previously pleaded guilty to.

Dean allegedly entered into the TSG Tobacconist on Elizabeth St at 11 p.m. on October 11 with a 30cm long hammer in hand and assaulted a male employee, according to police.

According to court documents, he was equipped with a silver hammer and intended to assault and intimidate the employee.

The employee had minor head injuries and was treated by paramedics on the scene.

During the same time period, Dean was also charged with common assault in relation to another man.

Police also allege he stole a grey iPhone from the tobacconist.

He was charged with affray, assault causing actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault, shoplifting, armed with intent to commit an indictable crime, and breach of bail in connection with the incident.

“VJ” was the TV son of show staple Ada Nicodemou.

He will return to court on January 12 where he will enter pleas.
