EXCLUSIVE: Home and Away’s Kyle Shilling revealed his co-star Kirsty Marillier, who plays his on-screen love interest Rose, occasionally gives him directions to spice up a scene

Kyle Shilling of Home and Away acknowledged that before their intimate moments, co-star Kirsty Marillier gives him directions.

The actor joined the Australian serial opera’s ensemble earlier this year as Mali Hudson, and Kirsty has played Rose Delaney since April 2022.

Mali and Rose struck it off right away when they arrived in the Bay, and it didn’t take long for them to start dating.

But after Xander (Luke Van Os) attacked, Mali admitted that their priorities weren’t in order and broke off contact with the policeman.

Despite having split up, the couple has gradually made their way back to one another and is eventually reunited in this Friday’s (July 21) episode.

Kyle acknowledged in an exclusive interview with Daily Star that he was “thrown in the deep end” during his first week on set when he was handed an intimate scene with Kirsty.

“We don’t shoot in chronological order, so one day, we shot a scene where we’d skipped all the dating and leading up to this moment, and we were just thrown into a van with three cameras and we had to start hooking up,” the soap actor recalled.

As he was granted a private scene with Kirsty within his first week on set, Kyle said in an exclusive interview with Daily Star that he was “thrown in the deep end” during those early days.

The soap opera actor recalled: “I think it was just about a week into working there and we don’t shoot in chronological order so one day, we shot a scene where we’d bypassed all the courting and leading up to this moment and we were just tossed into a truck with three cameras and we had to start hooking up.

“I was thrown in the deep end,” he laughed. “I’d never done anything like that before, let alone on screen.”

The star continued: “It’s funny because you kiss someone but they don’t kiss like you, so you go through this journey of learning how they kiss so that it doesn’t look awkward or weird on screen”.

Kyle, who is an Indigenous rapper, revealed Kirsty recently contacted him ahead of one of their love scenes and gave him directions to make it “really spicy”.

The Aussie star recalled: “There was this really funny moment the other day where Kirsty text me and she goes, ‘Hey dude, I thought next scene that we kiss, lets get it really spicy, maybe you pick me up and drag me into the room’. I was like, ‘Yep, no worries’.

“I showed my mate and was like, ‘This is work talk,” and he was like, ‘I don’t know how you do it’,” he laughed.

Gushing over his friendship with Kirsty, Kyle added: “She’s awesome and I’m really comfortable working with her so it’s really good.”
