Home And Away’s popular Nikau Parata star Kawakawa Fox-Reo has quit the Australian soap and departed Australia with his final scenes already written and filmed last month

Fans of the television series Home and Away have been miffed by reports that Kawakawa Fox-Reo, who played Kawakawa in the Nikau Parata, has left the programme.

The well-known actor, who arrived in Summer Bay for the first time in 2019, finished filming his final scenes last month and left Australia.

According to 7Entertainment, Kawakawa has established himself as a household brand as a result of his time on the popular Australian soap Summer Bay and is now ready to seek new projects outside of it.

Back in June, in a first for the popular drama, Kawakawa expressed his gratitude for how his character portrayed Mori culture.

The actor was especially appreciative of the feedback he had received on social media regarding the plot’s cultural focus.

He said to Digital Spy: “I got a lot of extremely encouraging responses on social media, which was amazing. I haven’t noticed anything bad, and the reviews have been excellent.

Kawakawa continued to elaborate as he expressed his joy at having been given the chance to share indigenous culture with a bigger audience and to promote it to viewers.

There will be some content soon that demonstrates the family’s cultural aspect a little more, he continued. I believe that some of it is now here; it’s a pleasant little window into what our society has to offer. It’s a really enormous phenomenon, and I believe that what is depicted on the show is just a small portion of a much larger and more complex world.

“I’m happy to promote the Māori culture whenever I can, for sure. I’m super proud and honoured to get the opportunity to do that on a show like this. And I want people back home to feel proud, so any opportunity I do have I will take with both hands.”

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR, with first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR.

The show also streams on My5, with classic episodes available to view on Prime Video in the UK.
