Rebekah Elmaloglou played troublesome teen Sophie Simpson in Australian Soap Home and Away between 1990 to 1993, but fans may recognise her from another huge TV role
Rebekah Elmaloglou made her television debut in 1990 as Home and Away’s troubled teen Sophie Simpson, and more than 33 years later, the star is virtually unrecognizable.
Between 1990 and 1993, the actress made several appearances on the soap opera. In 1991, her character Sophie began a relationship with David Croft, who was portrayed by none other than Hollywood hottie and Neighbours Mike Young actor Guy Pearce.
The on-screen pair had an affair, which ultimately resulted in Sophie getting pregnant. David passed away in a vehicle accident before he could witness the birth of his daughter Tamara, though.
Two years later in 1993, Sophie subsequently chose to say goodbye to Summer Bay and move to Perth with David’s mother to raise Tamara – but later made a return for stints between 2002 to 2005.
Rebekah has been away from Summer Bay for more than 30 years, and she has entirely changed appearance.
Rebekah has delighted fans off-screen as well as on it with roles in A Country Practice and Pacific Drive, to mention a few. She also rocks a variety of fashionable outfits and always looks stunning.
The brunette bombshell has subsequently flaunted her youthful appearance in another well-known TV role as Terese Willis in Neighbours, proving that she hasn’t aged a day.
Since 2013, Rebekah has played Terese, the hotel manager at Lassiters, in the soap opera. Beginning in 2013, her character has had an on-again, off-again relationship with Paul Robinson, the antagonist.
Rebekah claimed to Inside Soap that Home And Away star Ray Meagher had reached out to her in a thoughtful gesture from her old cast friends ahead of the emotional episode, which saw a number of former cast members—including Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan—return to Ramsay Street.
Ray Meagher called to check on me, the woman remarked. I hadn’t seen him in a long time, but he had my number from my brother, a Home and Away staff member.
“He expressed his regret to me, conveyed his love to everyone on Neighbours, and mentioned that the cast of Home and Away was concerned about us and wanted to show their support. They appeared to be pretty stunned by the news, in my opinion.
However, with the news that production company Fremantle has signed a deal to air the soap on Amazon Freevee, Neighbours is set to make a comeback this year – so could Terese?
With Paul Robinson star Stefan Dennis appearing in the announcement video for the return of Neighbours, it seems that Terese and Paul’s story may be far from over – and we cannot wait to see what happens next.
