“You just want them to be happy, don’t you?”

The star of Home and Away, Jacqui Purvis, recently spoke with Digital Spy about the failed union of Felicity Newman and Tane Parata.

In several major shows on Channel 5 over the coming days, the couple’s wedding will be featured prominently, but they won’t be able to go down the aisle.

In upcoming scenes, Felicity and Eden Fowler, who is serving as her maid of honor, collide while driving to the wedding.

In order to exact revenge on Felicity’s brother Cash, who was meant to be driving, the hazardous biker gang sabotaged the bridal car.

Jacqui chuckled as she told Digital Spy about the breaking news that Tane and Felicity won’t be exchanging vows: “That was depressing! I adore Tane and Flick so much. Don’t you just want them to be content? You desire for them to live happy lives.

Yet, I also enjoy drama, so I really can’t complain.

When asked if she wanted the couple to finally get married in a rescheduled ceremony, Jacqui responded: “Yes! I genuinely do, just because I believe Tane and Flick are a perfect match. They enhance one another’s best qualities. They improve one another’s lives.

“They also challenge one another, which is crucial in a relationship. I think they make a great couple and would adore to see them exchange vows.”

The major plotline was first broadcast in Australia for the November 2022 season finale and January 2023 season premiere.

Jacqui gave us the following explanation of the plot’s origin: “The show’s lead writer brought me in and we talked about what was going to happen to Flick in the plots. She predicted that as Felicity is traveling to the wedding, there will be a crash.

“I was more focused on the wedding aspect and eager to try on various outfits! The fact that it would be the season finale almost slipped my mind. I’m not sure if that was simply me trying to avoid thinking about it since I didn’t want the pressure to affect me.

“That didn’t really hit me until much later, when we were getting ready to shoot. That is when I realized it would be the season finale, which is a significant deal.

“The crash itself is so large, and when I saw how many stunts were going to be involved, it got even bigger. Oh my God, this is great, I thought as I required a stunt double. I was overjoyed and in awe of how fortunate I was to have that experience.

Felicity and Eden’s automobile crashes into a gas station in the dramatic episodes.

The paramedics manage to rescue an unconscious Eden, but it becomes more difficult to get Felicity out of the rubble safely. Tane is forced to intervene and launch a risky rescue operation when the flames begin to spread.

It was incredible, one of the nicest experiences I’ve ever had, Jacqui continued. I had to perform a stunt where I had to be in the car when it caught fire. I was surrounded by actual fire because there were fire bars all around me.

“I love things like that because I love action – I thought it was the best thing ever. But it was very real, intense and heartbreaking.

“We also had real paramedics on the scene. They were acting in the scenes, but they were real paramedics that were asked to be there, so we could make sure that everything we were doing was true to life.

“It was incredibly safe – there are safety officers everywhere. But there was definitely a moment where it all was happening and I could feel the heat. It was hot!”
