Home and Away's Johnny Ruffo enjoys romantic getaway in New Zealand with long-time girlfriend as he continues to battle terminal cancer

While undergoing treatment for terminal cancer, Johnny Ruffo and his longtime partner Tahnee Sims are having a romantic break in New Zealand.

The 35-year-old former Home And Away star has been openly discussing his experiences with brain cancer and his different therapies online.

The actor, who prefers to think positively, has been posting on social media about all the interesting things he has been doing in between trips to the hospital.

Johnny posted numerous breathtaking images from his vacation to Queenstown with his girlfriend Tahnee on Thursday.

The 35-year-old was seen in one picture relaxing in a hot tub with a stunning view of the mountains in the distance.

Another image captured the happy pair grinning while donning beanies in the frigid air.

“Back at it again in Queenstown,” Johnny wrote as the description for the photo carousel, accompanied by an emoji of a snowflake.

In the comments, the actor’s friends and admirers wished him a safe and enjoyable journey.

Lynne McGranger, a former coworker on Home And Away, stated: “Not jealous one bit JR.”

As he added, “How are you my friend? Enjoy the peace and tranquility that is Queenstown,” comedian Joe Avati was speaking.

NRL player Luke Burgess simply reacted with the words “Queenstown” and three “ok hand” emojis.

Johnny routinely updates his 261,000 Instagram followers on the progress of his cancer treatment.

In March, Johnny began a second round of chemotherapy. He shared a picture of himself receiving the medication in a hospital with Tahnee by his side.

The performer put on a brave face, grinning and nodding in approval as he sat in a chair.

He jokingly posted, “Back in my favorite chair,” along with the hashtags #ihatethischair and #f**kcancer.

In December, Johnny confessed he was looking forward to taking a holiday and spending Christmas with his family as he commemorated another year of receiving chemotherapy.

He wrote at the time, “Another year of chemotherapy is done. It wasn’t easy, but I made it through.”

He acknowledged in August 2022 that he had terminal brain cancer and expressed concern for his girlfriend Tahnee’s well-being after his passing.

He added on The Project, “You can only imagine how difficult it’s been for her.”

I detest to admit it, but I often consider how difficult it may be for her if something were to happen to me.

So, it’s something that I don’t want to think about. It just gets me a little bit emotional about it because I know at some point something will happen, whether it’s, you know, a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years.’

Johnny told then-host Carrie Bickmore he had already outlived his life expectancy.

‘At some point it will get me but I’m still fighting. Still kicking on. Looking up my diagnosis and my tumour, the average life expectancy was three years,’ he said.

After visiting the hospital with excruciating migraines, Johnny was initially identified as having brain cancer in 2017.

He had a 7 cm brain tumor surgically removed from his frontal lobe in August of that year, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The former X Factor contestant continued by praising his girlfriend Tahnee and calling her his “guardian angel.”

He said, “She is here with me every step of the way.” “I don’t know what I would do without her,” she said, “so I’m very grateful to have her by my side.”

After receiving his initial diagnosis in 2017, Johnny entered remission for several months before disclosing that the sickness has returned in November 2021.
