Fans of Home And Away have been enamoured with the current romance between Irene Roberts and John Palmer.

The actors Lynne McGranger and Shane Withington’s characters in the soap opera have been in a humorous fictitious relationship.

In an interview with 7Life, Lynne, 70, expressed her opinion that their on-screen chemistry results from their long-standing friendship.

Despite the fact that Shane joined the cast in 2009, he and Lynne had been friends for 13 years prior to that.

Shane was well-known before enrolling in Summer Bay for his role in the Channel Seven soap opera A Country Practise.

On this show, Molly, a role played by actress Anne Tenney, served as his love interest.

Lynne was surprised to learn that he was married to Anne, his former on-screen co-star, despite their only being acquaintances.

We were both in the green room about two years after Shane joined the programme when I asked him, “You married?” Lynne spoke to the media.

‘He goes, “Yeah I’ve got a partner, we’ve been together for 30” years at the time.

‘She plays Molly on A Country Practice, and I nearly died!’

Despite being a soap star herself, Lynne loves following other on-screen romances and was delighted to hear that Shane and Anne’s became a thing off-screen.

‘I instantly transformed into this hopeless soap opera romantic,’ she continued, “I couldn’t believe it and (was) so happy that the real Brendan and the real Molly were actually dating in real life. The experience was the most thrilling ever.

The soap actress asserted that the phoney romance plot involving John and Irene is appealing to audiences since it is humorous.

She continued by saying that the filming had been “so fun” and that the producers had given her and Shane “free rein” to develop the plot.
