The stars of Home and Away, Lynne McGranger, Emily Symons, and Ada Nicodemou, have opened up about attending Australian television’s night of nights in advance of the 63rd TV Week Logie Awards next week.

While this is Lynne and Emily’s first-ever Logies nomination, the trio has previously made a number of significant appearances at the awards ceremony and is all up for Most Popular Actress this year.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the event, Lynne shares that her number one tip for attending the Logies is to wear an outfit that you can easily get in and out of.

The veteran actress admits she learned this the hard way when she wore a blue Alin Le’ Kal gown to the event in 2016 which made it difficult for her to go to the bathroom.

“I nearly got a UTI in [that dress] because I couldn’t get out of it,” she reveals. “Could not go to the bathroom for eight hours.

“I couldn’t get out of the bloody thing, it was unbelievable. Now I’m like, ‘Can I get out of it?’ when trying things on.”

Emily adds that her “number one rule” is to eat something before walking the red carpet.

“Because sometimes you think, ‘I’m so excited’ and [the event goes on for] hours and hours and hours and then you sit down and you have a glass of wine,” she explains.

“And then if you win you get up and then you’re backstage and then you miss half the meal, they take it all away. So you’ve got to eat something before you go.”

‘Do it on another night’

Ada, who is up for her eighth Logie this year, thinks the best tip she can give other guests is to limit their alcohol consumption.

“Don’t drink before your award,” she advises. Have one, but after that, stop.

You should keep in mind that the room is filled with representatives from Australia’s television industry, including producers and executive producers, who you might want to work for in the future. Therefore, go out on another night if you want to get very intoxicated.

“The worst is when they ask if you want to give the speech if we win? I respond, “Absolutely not.” Not that I have a drinking issue, but you have to keep sober,” she chuckles. “We always pass it off to someone else because you can’t have a drink until you get up and do the speech.”

You can wang your Logies up your dinger’

Lynne went on to share that she was once in charge of giving the acceptance speech when Home and Away won a Logie, but was so furious with what happened that she didn’t attend the event the following year.

“I did this lovely speech where I thanked everyone including the ladies in the canteen, the whole shebang, the crew, blah, blah, blah,” she details.

The room heard it, but no one at home [heard it] since it was on another network and they said, “We need to go to an ad break. When I asked how the speech went, they responded, “Oh, it was very short,” to which I replied, “What do you mean?” Since that year, I’ve got the shrieking jim jams.

“I protested by choosing not to go the next year. You can wang your Logies up your dinger, but I’m not coming, I said. However, I’m back now.
