The nation was moved to tears when Coronation Street revealed yesterday, Wednesday, June 5, that Helen Worth would be leaving her position as Gail Platt.
Gail will depart from the cobbles later this year, with Helen filming her last scenes the following month.
Fans of Coronation Street have now begun to speculate about her exit plot. For the Corrie legend, things are not looking good.
Coronation Street: Helen Worth to leave soap as Gail Rodwell
Helen Worth will be commemorating her 50th anniversary on the cobbles next month (July), as Coronation Street recently revealed.
Nevertheless, Helen has decided to step down from her role as Gail Rodwell, so this year will be her last on the Street.
Next month, the legendary Corrie actress will film her farewell storyline. Later this year, these scenes will be seen on screen.
Helen revealed, “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. Her final storyline has been promised to be a huge one for the Platt family.” I spoke with the producers at the beginning of the year and made the decision; they were very understanding and kind.
“I consider myself extremely fortunate to have worked with outstanding actors, directors, and crew, as well as to have consistently been given the most amazing scripts.”
“These fifty years have gone by so quickly, and it still hasn’t really hit me that I’m leaving.”
Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Gail exit at the hands of Joel
Joel recently “killed” Lauren, and now that she’s desperate to find Lauren’s killer, Bethany has become his new target.
Fans now worry that Bethany’s involvement might cause Joel to kill Gail during her farewell scenes.
A fan said, “Corrie, give it a call.” Joel will be the one to kill Gail. Joel has already raised Bethany’s suspicions. Whether on purpose or by accident, he will go after Gail and kill her instead of attacking Bethany. Gail may obstruct him, but she will stand by her family.
“I guess Bethany tells Gail, and Gail gets taken out in a fight to the death with Joel after following him and discovering his lock up of trafficked girls… or something like that,” said an additional person.
“I guess this Joel storyline is going to run until Christmas where he’ll kill off Gail,” proposed a third viewer.
