After nearly implicating his son Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard), Coronation Street legend Ken Barlow (William Roache) has blasted his daughter-in-law Carla Connor (Alison King).

The Barlow family learned earlier this week that Carla had accepted a made-up narrative that her nephew Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) had concocted in an attempt to absolve Roy Cropper (David Neilson) of responsibility for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) death.

When Lauren vanished, Bobby had told DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) that he had been threatened by a masked intruder, but she didn’t think Bobby was telling the truth.

Carla became enraged at Bobby for lying and possibly accusing both of them of tainting the legal system after he told her what he’d told the police.

But it was all in good spirit – he hoped that they would continue to search for the real culprit in Lauren’s disappearance.

But in a shocking turn of events, Daniel—who had a history of hanging out with prostitutes—came under police scrutiny. It was unclear for a while whether he would find himself in Roy’s shoes.

A pivotal week for the ITV soap opera saw the identification of Joel Deering (Calum Lill) as the murderer of Lauren; however, it was paeodophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) who was taken into custody following the planting of evidence against him by bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

After having a heart-to-heart with Carla, Swain chose to bring Bobby in for questioning; however, she was able to see Bobby’s mistakes and release him.

Joel’s girlfriend Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), who was enraged that Joel was defending Nathan, stormed into Barlow Legal Services’ office and blurted out that Carla and Bobby were in charge of Daniel’s interrogation; Adam, his nephew (Sam Robertson), overheard everything.

He couldn’t contain himself and told the family in the Rovers while they were having a drink, in typical soap opera fashion.

It appeared that Ken wasn’t in the mood to be forgiving in tonight’s (5 June) episode, as he called Carla’s actions “unforgivable.” He was, of course, one of the last family members she could rely on following the departure of her husband Peter (Chris Gascoyne) last year.

Bobby told Carla he was planning to go stay with his grandmother after realizing he was mostly to blame for the suffering.

She appeared unconcerned.

Could Carla be starting over with his departure?
