In recent EastEnders scenes, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) startled Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) with a shocking statement as he sought her counsel on his present predicament.

Alfie was in a challenging situation after finding out that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had an affair with his future bride Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) before their wedding.

After taking too many shots, Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) unintentionally revealed Phil’s night out with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit), leaving Alfie in shock.

He struggled with his conscience as he considered whether or not to tell Kat the news in tonight’s (September 20) episode.

He used the chance to seek counsel from his best friend Linda when he ran into her.

He questioned what she would do if she knew something that would cause difficulties in the short term but prevent a lot of trouble in the long run, keeping it vague.

Before uttering the most memorable phrase of the year, Linda admitted that she regretted acting like a grownup by keeping quiet and trying not to “upset the applecart” after losing the love of her life, Mick, to the diabolical Janine Butcher.

I wish I had thrown a flamethrower at the applecart the day the b*tch moved in, the person said.

Queen, kill.

Linda’s feelings are justified given that Janine and Mick’s marriage collapsed as her lives fell apart and led to Mick going missing at sea on Christmas Day.

Alfie went over to speak with Kat while Linda’s admonition was still fresh in his mind.

He quickly realized that he couldn’t break her heart after seeing her so happy, so he refrained from saying anything and confronted Phil directly.

Will Alfie regret his silence as much as Linda did, or will everything turn out well?
