Fans of Strictly Come Dancing caught Giovanni Pernice paying a heartfelt homage to his former BBC dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Together with Rose Ayling-Ellis from EastEnders, Giovanni Pernice and Rose won Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 after winning the nation’s hearts.
Rose, the first deaf competitor in the competition, used her platform to promote the deaf community by doing a dance in part in silence.
Each week after the results of the public vote, she taught Giovanni British Sign Language, and they used it to sign “thank you.”
Two years later, the Italian dancer still makes the move with his current partner Amanda Abbington, astute observers have noticed.
He signed the lines when his and Amanda’s names were announced on Sunday’s episode as they were spared from elimination.
Wide applause greeted the actress and Giovanni’s fiery salsa performance to Gloria Estefan’s Oye.
They received a total of 32 points, propelling them to the top of the scoreboard.
Fans flooded Twitter with comments as they remembered Rose as Giovanni signed in British Sign Language for the cameras.
In her letter, Andie said, “Giovanni continuing to sign after being partnered with Rose always gets me.”
Mich said, “Oh, how I’ve missed Giovanni’s “Thank You, Thank You, Thank You” I love that man.”
Gio’s relationships with Debbie McGhee and Rose Ayling-Ellis were two of Aes’ favorites throughout the entire season, she continued.
