In EastEnders, Jamie Borthwick’s character, Jay Brown, is presently adjusting to life without Lola (Danielle Harold), as he must live without the love of his life.

In tragic circumstances, Lola Pearce passed away earlier this year. Huge praise was given to Danielle Harold and Jamie Borthwick for their portrayal of the plot, in which the couple rekindled their romance only to learn that Lola had an uncurable brain tumor.

Jay had to overcome his fear, rage, and grief as the plot progressed in order to support Lola and her daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown).

“Jay has experienced many low points in his life, but this is by far the lowest point because he lost Lola,” Inside Soap was told by Jamie Borthwick.

Since 2006, Jamie has been portraying Jay Brown, and he remembered how the character was introduced to him at the time.

“We had an introduction day when I was cast, and the director described Jay as a cheeky chappie. In a gathering of friends, he would be the one to speak out and say something, and he would have a tough exterior. The flip side of that is that he was extremely perceptive, took things personally, and gave a damn what other people thought. When no one was looking, he had a soft side and would curl up on the couch and watch rom-coms.

The narrative involving Lola and Jay’s subsequent attempts to co-parent Lexi with Ben (Max Bowden) and Callum (Tony Clay) while grieving over his wife particularly highlighted Jay’s sensitive side.

And Jamie shared that he had some ideas of his own about what might be in store for his character. He actually offered these ideas to the show’s executive producer, Chris Clenshaw.

He admitted that, up until lately, he had never made a special effort to pitch a plot to the writers. I generally like to joke around, but I just texted Chris Clenshaw the other day for the first time.

“What do you think about..?” I questioned him. Watch this space; a seed was sown, and it wasn’t pooh-poohed.

Jamie’s proposal, or a variation of it, may soon be appearing on our televisions because Chris Clenshaw is known for keeping doors open and ensuring that the performers, writers, and producers on the program are in continual communication.

If it materializes, I’ll let you know and say, “See! Do you recall what I stated about this tale? The tale is as follows!” Actor made a pledge.
