Vic might also intentionally provoke Adam so that she ends up intervening and appearing to be the “hero.” For her, it would be beneficial in all ways.

Vic essentially has no aid in the corporation to carry out her orders other than Nate.

Given that Mr. Hastings is her boyfriend and is likely to comply with any requests from her, undermining Adam’s achievement is the wisest course of action.
