Fans of Emmerdale were disappointed to find that Matthew Wolfenden, who has played the shop owner for almost 20 years, is leaving the show.

The actor who portrays Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale, Joe Warren-Plant, made an appearance on the most recent episode of Lorraine to talk about what is in store for the Yorkshire-based serial drama as Super Soap Week approaches.

After his character on Monday’s episode of the soap suffered a serious allergic reaction to nuts, the actor has been a part of a dramatic narrative this week.

When he awoke in the hospital, his stepfather David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) appeared by his bedside.

But when a contrite Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) paid the youngster a visit, the narrative became more complicated.

Since she was the caterer at the gathering when Jacob experienced an allergic reaction, she took responsibility for his adverse reaction.

The revelation that the two had been covertly messaging one another on Tuesday night’s episode—and that Jacob might have love feelings for Victoria—left viewers in astonishment.

Given that Victoria and David had a relationship in the past, this could lead to some significant strife in the community.

Jacob has always called David dad and views him as a father figure even though David is not his biological father.

Some fans think David’s impending departure from Emmerdale has something to do with Victoria and Jacob’s potential romance.

Joe, who plays Jacob, said on Wednesday’s episode of Lorraine that David might eventually return to the Yorkshire Dales.

It’s like your second family, which is amazing, said host Lorraine Kelly. However, I am aware that you will miss Matthew [Wolfenden] very much. However, keep the door open; I don’t believe he is truly gone.

Yes, they are not eliminating him, therefore the door is still open, Joe retorted.

Which is always fantastic when that doesn’t happen, Lorraine chimed in.

Will David return to the village soon or will ITV soap opera fans never see the character again?

Actor Matthew, who played David, commented on his departure on This Morning, saying, “It feels like the appropriate time. They agreed not to kill me off, thus the door is left open. I have the right to tell you that. So who knows, we’ll have to wait and see whether I return.
