Jay Brown of EastEnders has begun acting strangely to cope with his intense grief at the death of his wife Lola Pearce.
Fans of EastEnders will be aware that Jamie Borthwick’s character, Jay Brown, is having a hard time dealing with the death of his wife, Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), who passed away from cancer a few months ago.

The beloved character from Walford who is normally responsible has regrettably started using drugs to fall asleep after meeting ketamine user Nadine Keller (Jazzy Phoenix).

Official BBC soap opera spoilers disclose When Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) learns of Jay’s arrest, he gets upset with his husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay), but Jay plays it down and says it was only his possession of marijuana that got him locked up.

Jay, who is still grieving, subsequently asks Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) if she knows of anyone who sells drugs, but she says no.

Later, Gina asks Ben to The Albert so they may talk about her worries over Jay.

Jay is approached by Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) with the notion of spreading Lola’s ashes, but he rejects it, lamenting that everyone else has moved on from her passing but not him.

After Jay becomes intoxicated and brings up Honey Mitchell’s (Emma Barton) worries, the two have a moving discussion about sorrow.

When Jay later runs into Nadine, she believes he’s there to get more drugs.

With a great deal of regret, Jay is subsequently approached by Ben, who threatens to throw him out if he doesn’t quit doing narcotics.

Jay makes a better promise later on in The Vic, but when Nadine shows there, everything gets even worse.

Before Lola passed away, Jay promised to look after her schoolgirl daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown).

Lola requested Jay to adopt her daughter while she was sick because she was more concerned about Ben managing, which at the moment upset Ben.

However, it appears that her misgivings were somewhat unfounded because Jay is now the one acting carelessly.

Is it possible that Ben may finally prevent Jay from seeing Lola, thereby driving him even farther into his drug habit?

It’s possible that he makes a vow to start afresh, but Jay leaves with Nadine after an argument over her appearance at The Vic.

Will Jay be able to get treatment before his addiction gets worse?
