A plan to bring Andrew home backfires.
Next week, Justin Morgan from Home and Away will find himself in an unsettling scenario on UK television as his partner Leah Patterson angrily criticises him for a botched effort to rescue Andrew Lawrence.
To lure Andrew back to Summer Bay, Justin and the local police officer Cash Newman are set to collaborate on a dangerous scheme.
In recent episodes, Andrew was deceived into rejoining the Vita Nova cult after a lady appeared posing as his mother. Margot, the brutal boss of the doomsday preppers, was revealed to be the woman in question.
The Channel 5 programmes this week have Justin and Cash visiting the cult facility, but Andrew won’t leave because he’s been indoctrinated by Margot.
The following week, Justin asks Cash to aid Andrew further because he won’t let it end there.
Cash first cautions Justin to let the police task force do its duties, especially because he is currently serving a suspended sentence due to the most recent attack event.
However, Cash subsequently changes his mind and goes to Justin to discuss organising a rescue mission because he feels bad about disappointing Andrew.
Cash gets into full police gear and follows Justin to the facility. He pledges to create a diversion while Justin searches for Andrew under the pretence of an official police visit.
When Justin locates Andrew in one of the structures, he is happy, but his happiness quickly turns to horror when the troubled adolescent once more refuses to leave.
Andrew adamantly maintains his membership in the Vita Nova cult, and he soon betrays Justin by pleading for assistance from other cult members.
Justin is forced to face the consequences along with Margot, who mocks him and Cash for their unsuccessful rescue attempt before letting them leave.
Back in the Bay, Justin fills in Leah about what happened at the compound.
Justin is shocked as Leah harshly blames him for the outcome, questioning why he didn’t do more to help Andrew.
Although Leah quickly apologises, has the damage already been done?
