Freddie the dog is held hostage in Coronation Street next week but it’s later revealed that sleuths investigating Lauren Bolton’s will release the hound on one condition
Roy Cropper will have more misery in Coronation Street the following week.
After making a commitment to walk Freddie before school to Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher), Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) calls at the café to pick him up. Unbeknownst to Sam, a detective observes from a table in the corner as he leaves.
When Freddie doesn’t show up, a distressed Sam says that he ran off. Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) volunteers to watch the cafe while Nina and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) go in search of him.
In the cafe, Nina, Evelyn and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) watch a video uploaded by the sleuths showing that they’ve taken Freddie hostage and to secure his safe return, Roy must confess to Lauren’s murder. What will they do next?
In the café, Asha confides in Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) that she’s had a response from the troll behind the video and she’s arranged to meet him in the precinct as Aadi offers to go with her. Evelyn calls at the cafe with some ‘Missing Freddie’ posters and a birthday card for Nina. Roy phones the cafe to wish Nina a happy birthday and she makes out that Freddie is fine and assures him that Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) is doing everything to secure his release.
In his cell, Roy confides in the prison officer that new evidence has come to light and he’s hopeful he might be released. In the court, Dee-Dee makes the case for Roy’s bail application and describes how Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) saw a man leaving Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) flat who didn’t fit Roy’s description but the Judge refuses Roy’s bail application.
Dee-Dee visits Roy in his cell and tells him not to give up hope and that the police are planning a reconstruction. Roy calls Carla from prison and asks her to come and see him as he needs to talk to her about Bobby’s statement. Has Roy caught onto Bobby’s lie?
