EMMERDALE icon Jeff Hordley has hinted there will be a dramatic storyline for his character Cain Dingle to mark the ITV soap’s 50th anniversary.

Since he joined the ITV soap opera in 2000, Jeff Hordley, who plays Emmerdale bad boy Cain Dingle, has been at the center of several explosive plots. The 52-year-old actor has hinted that his character will have some “major stories planned” for the 50th anniversary of the Yorkshire-based serial.

The father of two opened up to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV talk show on the soap’s upcoming 50th anniversary.

To mock Jeff: “Keep an eye on this space because we have some major articles planned.

We have a fair idea of what is going right now, but as the cast, we are never the first to know.

However, we are aware of what is happening, and I believe [they have] planned a month of very fantastic narratives.”

“50 years [of Emmerdale], that’s wonderful, isn’t it,” Lorraine continued.

“I think the new time slot is also simpler to watch, and it seems to be getting better and better.”

Additionally, she expressed to him her belief that 30-minute episodes were the “ideal” duration.

We probably only have an hour a week, but it’s a lot of fun.

Lorraine said, “Long may you do what you do, I can’t wait to see what you do this week.”

Jeff gave kudos to his attractive female co-stars for the success of the soap opera.

Working with such talented actresses makes my job so much easier, he continued.

Sally Dexter and Lucy Pargeter are just the greatest.
