Coronation Street fans were introduced to newcomer Kerry this week, who appears to be pretending to be Lauren Bolton’s mum and infiltrated Roy’s Rolls to snoop around
Fans of Coronation Street believe they know who the lady claiming to be Lauren Bolton’s mother is in real life.
On Wednesday, April 10, Kerry showed up in Weatherfield and got into Roy’s Rolls. She asked to know more about her “missing daughter” and later admitted she couldn’t afford a motel in the region. Roy provided her a place to stay, but before she went to sleep for the evening, watchers witnessed her answer an enigmatic call and say, “I’m in.”
Viewers were horrified to learn that Kerry had a can of pepper spray in her luggage, especially because Roy and Nina lived upstairs in the apartment. Furthermore, in a potentially shocking turn of events, some fans believe they have discovered Kerry’s true identity and her relationship to a previous character.
Some have speculated that Kerry is related to Christian Gatley, Hayley’s son, who appeared in episodes this week after accusing Roy of killing his late wife and making remarks about Hayley’s transgender identity in a derogatory interview. Fans now speculate that Christian would visit the cobbles again in person, possibly because of Kerry.
A suggestion was made on Facebook: “I believe it’s Christian’s wife.” Another said: “This is the same Christian who punched Hayley, never made amends with her while she was ill, and even then he sought to extract money from her since he owed her £5,000—in exchange for which he offered to introduce her grandchildren to Hayley.”

According to soap opera spoilers, “Kerry” is actually named Alice and is not Lauren’s mother. The real Kerry calls Roy in later episodes, pleading for him not to call her again. Alice then gets exposed and begins filming a rattled Roy, Shona, and Nina.
Alice bumps her head and stumbles when Roy tries to stop her from filming, then she accuses Roy of assault. Viewers will later witness Roy being accused of killing Lauren and being placed in a jail cell to face his future.
Reddit users are furious with the current plot, with one fan writing: “After ten years of garbage, this storyline might be the last straw for me.” As a lawyer, I find it wholly implausible and extremely inconsiderate to neurodiverse persons, in addition to being distressing.
